My Book

So what is the book all about? Here is an overview of the book and what to expect.

Who The Book Is For

Food4Smiles has been compiled to be a guide for a variety of people of all ages, skills and physical ability. I don't believe you should have to miss out on tasty food because you are restricted in your diet, it just requires flexibility.  There are ways to work within your needs and requirements.

The beginning of the book offers an introduction to myself, in order to give you an idea of how I came to compile this book and my thinking behind it.  Helping, is what I hope to achieve, not to change peoples lives or create miracles, but this way of thinking about food helped me and I want to pass that onto others.

By showing many possible alternatives to day to day foods and drinks, I hope to show that it is not as daunting as it may initially seem when you are faced with changing your eating habits. These alternatives are aimed at not only those who are forced to make dietary changes due to health concerns, but also those who wish to increase the variety of foods they use, or to find healthier alternatives to try and improve general health.

Tips and Nutrition

I offer some tips with regard to food choices, what to choose and what to avoid when buying foods, things to look for which you may not be aware of. I also talk about organic food, and broach the subject of whether you should be buying organic or not and what it actually means. Including the best places to find such foods. Tips on cooking are also important, especially for those who have limited energy, physical ability or strength, there are ways to adapt cooking and preparation to suit each person..

Nutrition is the underlying concern in Food4Smiles, and I have showed an example of foods and which nutrients they contain and what these nutrients do, I relate these to a number of specific symptoms which occur in many energy depleting illnesses.

The information that I have included in this part of the book is my findings and research, and some further research may be required into certain areas of interest. As I am talking from my experience, certain things may vary for certain people, such as the way some foods effect you, so please take what I say as advice and guidance and not a medical diagnosis.

Recipes

The second part of my book is dedicated to my recipes, which I have created and adapted accordingly. They have been categorised by the level of energy needed to complete the dish and then sub categorised so you can see which dishes are suitable for vegetarians and which are meat based.

Each recipe clearly details the items you need in your shopping, what preparation is needed, clear and detailed cooking tasks, ingredients which can be substituted or suitable alternatives, serving suggestions, and any further tips which may help complete the dish. They are laid out in sections so each recipe is easy to navigate, processes are clear including things to watch out for and be aware of during cooking. Flexibility is shown for each, allowing each dish to be adapted as much as possible to suit each person.

This collection of recipes is a mixture of easy, quick, everyday recipes, dishes for friends and family, dishes to improve cooking skills, dishes to allow everyone to enjoy foods they love, veggie recipes, meat and fish recipes, and some ideas for sandwich and jacket potato fillings for a quick meal.
